A tree blooming at the height of the heat, four Emirati Women's Day campaigns, and a new destination partner in Hong Kong meant our third quarter of 2026 was anything but ordinary
There is a tree that flowers across Dubai every July. The flame tree waits until the heat is at its highest, then covers itself in red-orange blossom, at the point in the year when the rest of the city seems to have gone somewhat into hibernation.
It is a useful reminder that timing can be as important as the idea itself. When the city slows down, attention does not disappear; it shifts. People who stay in Dubai have different reasons to engage, while those who leave still have plenty of reasons to look ahead, make plans, and book what comes next. For brands, that creates a different kind of opportunity with less noise and more space to do something people will actually notice.
Rove Hotels built two mornings around the infamous flame tree this summer. Working with the Dubai creative platform foscART, the Art Breakfast: Flame Tree Season sessions saw people gather over breakfast and a guided canvas at Rove City Walk and Rove Healthcare City. At the time it read as a pleasant seasonal hook, but three months later it reads like a summary of the quarter that followed.
Summer in the Gulf is often seen as almost the off-season. The roads empty, the school run vanishes, and marketing cools off until the weather does the same. However, there is still plenty to keep you busy during this traditionally quieter time of year.
Summers Tend to Split the City
The summer does not remove the audience. It tends to separate it into two groups with different needs, ones who decide to brave the heat and others who escape to more pleasant pastures. By early July, our clients were already working both sides of that divide.
We opened the quarter with a five-day flash sale for Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai. We then slowed things down as JA Hatta Fort Hotel went the other way with its Summer Wellness Retreat, two days in the Hajar Mountains led by the transformational coach and Family Constellations practitioner Tatiana Romanenia.
The programme ran to sunset yoga, a Metaphoric Card session, and a Family Constellations session.
Veo Fitness went further and opened a 6.30 am Hatha Yoga class and a Yoga and Sound Healing session at its Arabian Ranches 2 club.

Not everyone stayed in the city though, and for those who could make the flight, JA Manafaru launched three island excursions across the Maldives' Haa Alifu Atoll: the Manafaru Experience, the Filladhoo Shipwreck dive, and the Ihavandhoo Experience, a day on Chef Moosa's home island where he cooked lunch, inspired by the flavours he was raised on. The resort also joined forces with Galeries Lafayette Dubai for a collaboration, turning a shopping trip into a pre-departure experience. InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau launched twice in the same month, with new water-based wellness at AVI Spa and Around the World in 8 Courses, a roaming dinner ending on the Lighthouse Beach.
On 23rd July, Abu Dhabi Comedy Season announced its third edition, with Mo Amer and Maz Jobrani joining Russell Peters and Morgan Jay, a definite highlight to look forward to in Q4. Morgan Jay and Russell Peters play Etihad Arena in October, Mo Amer and Maz Jobrani in November.
July was a good month for the agency’s own news, too. We announced that Katch had been appointed by the Hong Kong Tourism Board's Middle East office to lead public relations and social media across the GCC.
There was more good news that month. Early in July, our client JA Resorts & Hotels was named Marketing Excellence winner at the Global Hotel Alliance Awards, recognised for achieving the highest engagement across GHA DISCOVERY's promotions and content marketing.
Four Clients, One National Moment
If July was about where people were, August was about what the UAE was doing. Emirati Women's Day, which occurs on 28th August, now had celebrations stretching across a full month, a shift we wrote about in August.
For Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai, we helped build family escapes and a mother-and-daughter spa experience, with henna sessions running across the celebration. Veo Fitness took the community route with four free classes across all four of its clubs, open to women of every nationality, while Al Habtoor Polo Resort offered an equestrian getaway among the polo fields.
And for JA Sports & Shooting Club, Emirati Women’s Day arrived with our camera’s rolling.
First to Rise is a hero film built around three pioneering Emirati athletes who broke new ground in their sports. Aisha Alawadhi was among the first Emirati women to compete on the World Padel Tour, while Nouf Al Anzi captains the UAE Women's National Football Team and was one of the first to play professionally overseas. Fatima Al Harthi is one of the country's first professional female endurance riders, competing in a discipline defined by the grit of its athletes.
Shot at the club in early August, the film went out in English and Arabic alongside Dubai Sports Council, Adidas, Visit Dubai, and Dubai Community.

We could feel August turn when The H Dubai took Book Lovers Day and stretched it into a week-long Book Week at The Gallery, built around a community book swap. Summer had not quite finished with us, though, as Rove Hotels joined Dubai Summer Surprises with AED 10 dishes at The Daily, its all-day restaurant, across nine properties.
A Morning with Cymbiotika at Veo Hayya Lakes, filled a Saturday with classes, smoothies, and a chance to try the range. Then the Premier League returned. Offside at JA Ocean View Hotel switched on all of its screens, two of them among the largest in the city, for a full season of live football on The Walk at JBR.
JA Hatta Fort Hotel, meanwhile, did something clever with time itself. Its 24-Hour Stay offer gave guests a full twenty-four hours from whenever they arrived on a weekday, so a 9 pm check-in became a 9 pm check-out.
September was a run-up to Q4.
In September, our calendars filled up again and stayed that way ever since.
The month opened on a relaxing note with Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai giving families a five-day window, from 7th to 11th September, to book a complimentary Half Board upgrade for any stay running through to the end of the month. Guests who were looking for something quieter could also visit the Spa Cenvaree, where a different treatment ran each day of the week, including an event built around Emirati Women's Wellness Day.
Connect Pilates kept a similar energy going a few days later with a complimentary Open House on 12th September at its newly expanded studio in Al Habtoor Polo Resort, opening Reformer, Mat and Circuit Pilates, Yoga, TRX and Sound Healing sessions to anyone who wanted to try them, plus a dance class built for mothers and children.
Arabian Travel Market then took over Dubai World Trade Centre for its 33rd edition, running from 14th to 17th September under the theme ‘Travel 2040: Driving New Frontiers Through Innovation and Technology’ and pulling in around 210 speakers and 115 participating countries. JA Resorts & Hotels went in with two speakers on panels and twelve media representatives at its pre-show party.
Hong Kong Tourism Board's first-ever Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival opened the same day Arabian Travel Market closed, lighting up Hong Kong’s Victoria Park from 17th to 27th September and building to the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance from 24th to 26th, when more than 300 performers paraded a 67-metre dragon lit by 12,000 incense sticks through the streets as part of its tradition dating back 147 years.

Closer to home, and squarely inside that same window, Veo Fitness used World Wellness Weekend, from 18th to 20th September, to let members bring a friend along for free across all four Dubai clubs, with full access of the facilities and group classes included.
September closed with one last burst of energy before the quarter turned towards Q4. Over at Horse & Hound, Al Habtoor Polo Resort's neighbourhood pub, an extended Oktoberfest, running from 19th September to 31st October, added a touch of Germany to the venue, featuring a Bavarian menu of sausages, schnitzel and Black Forest cheesecake. A first-ever Hoedown followed on the 26th, with line dancing, a mechanical bull and plenty of country-style sharing dishes.
What the Flame Tree Knows
Call it the off-season if you like; the results speak for themselves.
Run the highlights back and it's easy to see why. The flame tree has the right idea. Bloom when it is hottest because there’s less competition to look fabulous.
